The job
What We Did in Elburn
This Elburn warehouse had a plain, dull slab. We ground it with diamond tooling in steps, then polished it to a reflective finish.
There is no coating to peel. The concrete itself is the finished floor.
Polishing a warehouse slab happens in passes. Coarse metal-bond diamonds take off the weak surface and open the concrete, a densifier soaks in and hardens it, and then finer and finer resin pads bring up the shine. The floor is cleaned between passes, so grit from one step never scratches the next.

Local notes
Floors in Elburn
Good for working spaces. Polished concrete is easy to sweep and scrub, which suits warehouses and shops in and around Elburn.
Brighter space. A polished floor reflects light, so the room feels brighter.
Year-round work. Indoor slabs in heated buildings can be polished in winter too.
Dust you can stop. Untreated concrete in a busy shop slowly wears into fine dust that settles on tools, stock and machines. Densifying and polishing hardens the surface, so far less of it breaks loose.
Where the farmland starts. Elburn sits in western Kane County at the end of the Metra Union Pacific West line, where fields meet new subdivisions. Along Route 47 and Route 38 there are warehouses, contractor shops, farm equipment dealers and pole barns.
Machine sheds and pole barns. A concrete floor under tractors and trucks takes mud, tire marks and fuel drips. Polished or coated, it is far easier to sweep out and keep dry.
Worth the drive. Elburn is about 35 miles from our Palatine base, so we plan visits and work days ahead and bring everything the job needs in one trip.
