The basics
About Garage Floor Coatings
A garage floor takes a beating. Snow, road salt, oil and hot tires all wear down bare concrete. A coating seals the slab and gives you a floor you can hose off.
We grind the concrete first, fix cracks, then put down the coating. That prep is what keeps it from peeling.
Good for
- Two- and three-car garages
- Stem walls and steps
- Workshops and car hobby garages
- Stained or worn concrete
Finish options
Flake (chip) floors. Colored flakes broadcast into the base coat, then a clear topcoat. Hides dirt and small flaws, with a slip-resistant texture. Our most popular garage floor.
Metallic epoxy. A swirled, glossy look. It is beautiful, but shows scratches more than flake in a garage you park in every day.
Solid color epoxy. A clean, simple look for shops and storage.
Polyaspartic topcoats. We install epoxy and polyaspartic systems.

Questions
Garage Floor Coatings: Questions
Will road salt hurt the coating?
A good coating stands up to salt and snow melt much better than bare concrete. Rinse the floor now and then in winter to keep it looking good.
Can you coat a garage in winter?
Standard epoxy needs a slab of about 55°F, so in an unheated Chicago-area garage that usually means mid-April to October. Some fast-cure coatings can go down in colder weather. Ask us about your garage.
Why not just use a store kit?
Kits usually skip real grinding. Without it the coating has little to grip, so it often peels under hot tires.
Flake or metallic for my garage?
If you park in it daily, flake is the safer pick: it hides dirt and scratches. Metallic looks amazing but shows wear more.
